Bill O'Leary, son of the famous Royal Flying Doctor Pioneer Dr Tim O'Leary, has written a script for a movie based on the amazing story of his father's adventures.
Dr O'Leary left an autobiography in two books with other papers so these amazing historical adventures with native Australians will not be lost.
He was even the Queen's doctor when she visited Australia!
(he humbly never mentioned that in his books)
He worked alongside Mother Theresa in India prior to taking post as Ship's Surgeon bound for Australia in 1951. Landing penniless in Sydney, he 'picked' the Flying Doctor Job out of a cup. Over the next 30 years he was an outback legend -- surviving fatal plane crashes, being attacked by spear-throwing aboriginals, swimming through flooded crock- infested rivers to save the lives of isolated Australians.
The story is so amazing it needs to be told and we are certain the world will love it.
Twenty-one years after his death, it's time to tell this amazing true story. A charismatic hero's journey sweeping two generations and three continents filled with highflying adventure, tragic plane crashes, riveting life-saving stories and an unexpected 'twist' buried so deep even the most astute sleuths will be blown away. A story so amazing and controversial will need the expertise of a major house to pull it off. That's why we want to give the first option to Mel's ICON Productions. This is an epic adventure along the lines of Brave Heart, The Patriot and Apocalypto - Mel's understanding of the Catholic faith and the Australian outback will bring authenticity and finesse to the story.
This story is at least as interesting and exciting as "The Aviator" etc.

However when I first called I was put onto a David Kwang and was told that "we do not accept unsolicited manuscripts". I asked how do I get them "solicited" and he said "get an agent". He would not take my calls in future. I can't blame him I guess, he probably thought I was some mad Aussie fan.
